Our 4th of July

'Rain, Rain, go away come again another day.' This is how I felt this morning when I got up. I had planned to finish the painting on my table and chairs. But having done plenty of painting in the past, I knew not to even bring out the paint brushes. So, I started the task of cleaning house. The kids, of course, LOVED that idea. NOT!!!
After all the dusting and mopping were done, Jesse and I decided to pull out the cookbooks and do a bit of baking. We decided on 'whoopie pies'. We know that my sister (Aunt Kary) makes the BEST whoopie pies, but we were willing to try them ourselves. They turned out good enough to make us sick from eating too many of them. lol....
Mason had to work today, this afternoon to be exact.. I tried to get a picture of him as he was leaving but it is realllllyyyyy hard to get a picture of a teenage boy. See what I mean.... he's ducking in the doorway to avoid a picture. lol. I did finally get one though. Isn't he a handsome working teenager?! (that's a statement not a question. :) )
Later we will be grilling steaks on the grill then going to watch the fireworks at Harding (as is our tradition of the past 6 years).
I hope everyone has a great evening. We did. Happy 4th of July!!!!!

I hope you all enjoyed the Whoopie pies. They look very good. I wish I could have been there to help out. Mason is a very handsome working man. I am very proud of both Mason and Jesse. I hope you all have a Happy 4th. Love you, Aunt Kary

First of all, you MUST teach me how to make Whoopie Pies. They look mighty tasty.
Jesse's new haircut is very becoming. It's so grown up very college girl:) Mason looks very grown up in his work "uniform" too. What a couple of great kids you have on your hands. I will gladly listen to any and all advice to achieve results like you have had in the parenting dept:)
